There are a variety merit badges a scout may take in the scouting program. These badges are earned by a scout by contacting a merit
badge counselor and following the guidelines for earning the badge. A scout may utilize merit badge counselors both inside and outside of
our troop. It is important to note that it is the scout and not the parents who must reach out to both the counselor and troop leadership
when looking to earn the badge. In order to be successful in some of the Eagle required merit badges, a scout should possess a certain
level of maturity. We have found that scouts who have achieved at least the rank of First Class are able to deal with the independent
requirements and some of the topics that can be of a sensitive nature.
