Welcome to Troop 482
Dear Parents,

Troop 482 has an excellent program that has been enjoyed and well received by the scouts in our troop. We have learned over the years that planning activities for troop meetings, providing opportunities to earn merit badges and helping our scouts advance in rank keep the boys interested in the BSA organization. It is very gratifying to see that smile on a scout’s face when receiving the recognition for his achievements at our Court of Honor.

Running a Boy Scout Troop as large as ours is certainly not a one man show. The success of our troop has and will always be the participation of the parents. Many of our parents provide needed support by taking on positions as Committee Chairman, Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmasters, Advancement Coordinators, Trip Coordinators, Fund Raisers and Committee Members. Without the continued support of these generous people, our troop could not function. We invite you to join our troop family and share in your son’s scouting experience.

Our troop's leadership looks forward to working with the scouts and contributing to their success in the organization, but we need your help. Advancing in rank is not only completing the requirements outlined in the Boy Scout Handbook. It also requires a demonstration of “Scout Spirit”, which is an attitude that Scouts are supposed to live by, based on the Scout Oath and Scout Law. This includes participating in troop activities, camping trips, coming to troop meetings in uniform and on time, and developing leadership skills based upon their rank. Together we can help our boys get the most out of their scouting experience.

We believe that the success of any organization is keeping an open mind to new ideas. Even though there are very specific BSA guidelines in running a Boy Scout troop, we are open to suggestions that will improve the quality of our scouting program and keep our scouts enthusiastic. The Boys Scouts of America is a wonderful organization because of all it offers, but it is the parents who volunteer that make it special by participating in it.
Yours in scouting,

The Leaders of Troop 482
